  l was a new stepmother and a key stakeholder to a child under the age of 16. I was concerned about his well-being and schooling. Moreover, the child had learning difficulties. I was sometimes the sole caregiver when his father was away. In addition,  his mother moved 1 and a half hours away.
  
  Staff members from this school allowed me into a meeting and asked the child if there was anyone he did not want in the meeting. This could have been done before the meeting because public exculsion is not best practice for anyone. Also there could have been a more productive way to work with the child and key stakeholders. What is worse is some leadership from the school believes this practice should continue. 
  
  
  
  
  I would not expect the school to think it is alright for a child to publicly exclude another child on the playground, my husband and I would not expect a child to publicly exclude a child from the dinner table so I believe the promotion of public exclusion in school meetings was a detrimental process to my family. Especially when the child could have been asked who he wanted in the before any stakeholders entered the room.
